My
background in the editorial style of photography gives my wedding photojournalism
a particular edge. I love telling a story with images. I love telling the
story of a wedding day.
Many couples that I meet with, although wanting a photojournalistic
style, express concern that they won’t get the formal portraits of
family and friends who have come a long way for their wedding. Although the
telling
of the story is my focus, I realize the importance of the formal portrait.
So I try to get a feel for what would be most appropriate through my meetings
with you, the style of the venue, and the feel of the day.
The family portraits
and portraits of the bridal couple can go from extremely casual to very traditional
and formal. Aside from this, the block of time for the portraiture, I’m
invisible and your day is yours to enjoy. As one couple put it: “You
were everywhere and nowhere at the same time.” This, by the way, is the
essence of “wedding photojournalism”. It is literally telling the
story of your wedding day with pictures and it’s being able to doing
so from a completely unobtrusive approach and candid view.
While I’m honored to be published in magazines such as Martha Stewart Weddings, Grace Ormonde’s Wedding Style and The Knot, I’m even more thrilled to receive compliments about my work from satisfied couples. I can provide references, but thought a quick quote might help:
“I looked through thousands
of images in Bridal magazines when planning my wedding and never dreamed
that I would have photos
as beautiful as those.
The photographs you took of our day are beyond my wildest dreams.”
